The 13th Floor of Gallifrey One
Or, "We came to this Convention and all we got was this lousy 7am wake-up call from the LAPD's SWAT team..."
It was that time of year once again. Time to make the pilgrimage! Tom and I actually arrived in LA on Wednesday evening, and met Dave Adler and Ash at LAX. Dave, the swine, took photos as we claimed our baggage... thanks a bunch. We must have looked like crap after a 5 and a half hour plane flight :P Tom and I got a connecting room to Lyss and Ash's - so we could wander from room to room. Proved to be very handy if someone forgot their room key! :) Anyhoo. Wednesday night also proved it could also be a pain in the arse. After ordering in Chinese for dinner, we somehow ended up with Dave Stone in our room and discussion about midgets, fighting crime (He was an out of work Pope looking for love! She was a quadraplegic cat burglar from the wrong side of the tracks! Together, they fight crime!), believing equalling orgasm and lezzing it up ensued until about 3am, at which point we kicked him out (well, more like next door, where he slept for the duration of the convention). Thursday involved the now-traditional visit to Denny's at about 10pm, but like an idiot I forgot my camera. Oh well. Looking out from the Airtel's front porch on Friday, however, we noticed a billboard bearing the legend: "Gentlemen, start your pork chops." We're so easily amused...Looking out from the Airtel Plaza towards the mystery billboard.
Finally got to see Lyssie again for the first time since Visions '98. Have missed a Lyss. Cue much giggling and hugging all weekend.Lyssie with Ryssie as Sailor Gallifrey. Don't ask.
Friday proved to be interesting if only for the fact that I invaded a panel to give David Howe his requested hug. Yes, I was dressed like that. No, I don't know who the hell got pictures. Keith Topping and Paul Cornell whined about not getting hugs, so I got to run in a second time. Gave everyone on the panel a hug just to be on the safe side. What was the panel about? Oh, I don't know... :)Tom with Lyssie, just after my panel invasion.
Don't look now, but... it's Nathan Roberts... and he's AFK! For real!...and the rock said, "BEWM!"
After some friend-spotting and some dealer-room shopping, Lyssie, Tom, Dave Adler and I decided to go to that most sacred of places, Beep's... and dragged a Nate along as well. He was a Beep's Virgin, you see.
Ahhh, Beep's. Where the shakes are glorious, the food is cheap, and the company always entertaining, as you shall see...It's a Nate! In Broad Daylight! *screeeeeaaaammm*
And we met up with some more familiar folks at Beep's, and I took some photos while waiting for our food to arrive......Jenny Parks... (note Dave Adler on the right)
...Chas Martin, Mary Alice Ladd and Dan Harris...
...Tom Kelly, Mk II (San_Hoser) - and yes, he had that on his con badge!

Lyssie, adorned in Mardi Gras beads, waits soooo patiently...
Kathy Sullivan. She's published, y'know. :)
It's feeding time at the zoo... no, hubby, you're supposed to eat the stuff on the plate, not the utensils... *facepalm*
Time to play 'The Nathan Roberts Impersonation Game'!
Hmm... I don't know...
I think the ketchup and the napkin stand wins it hands down...
And no, there aren't any pics of me from that trip to Beep's, unless someone else got one of me!A LyssPhoto of Shiny!Eva and Thete in the hotel bar (Ian McIntire on the left, Nate in foreground).
Waiting for opening ceremonies to start...
