Thomas Michael Kelly, born November 5th, 1965 - on the right in the picture - originally hails from Cleveland, Ohio
(at least that what he says - I wonder sometimes if he got bumped off Gallifrey for jumping in one too many puddles! - Ryssa), and moved down to Cincinnati a couple of years ago looking for work. Tom's a big fan of the original Godzilla, Doctor Who, Farscape, Babylon 5, Red Dwarf, PROBE and The Prisoner seriesto name but a few.
Tom's great at
writing and
artwork, even though he won't admit it.
Tom's great at making costumes, and he's been costuming at cons for years. His first convention was in 1983, as the Fourth Doctor. He's currently running around at cons like
Gallifrey in sheets and a toe tag and then progressing to the full Eighth Doctor regalia over the course of the con!
In fact, that's how Tom met Alryssa - at a convention,
Visions 98 in Chicago, Illinois. It was love at first sight, and both haven't looked back since. Doesn't it make you sick!
Tom is also the Archivist for the Coven of the Mystical Waters, a recently-formed eclectic Wiccan group.
Online, you can find Tom lurking on the
Paul McGann Estrogen Brigade, on the eGroups community
EighthDoctor, or occasionally on #drwhochat on DALnet under the nick
McGannDoc. He's got a notorious reputation for taking forever to reply to email, though!
Alryssa Kelly
Born 26th of May, 1978 in Cardiff, Wales, Alryssa Melanie Jayne Kelly shares her birthday with the likes of John Wayne (dead), Al Jolson (dead), and Helena Bonham-Carter (alive when she last checked), and fellow #dwc'ers Brenda Shaw, Eric Briggs and David 'Mossy' Skeeter.
She got back into Doctor Who after seeing publicity photos of Paul McGann for the Fox telemovie in 1996 and regularly makes a nuisance of herself in #drwhochat, #subcafe, #wicca, #theban_wicca and #macintosh on DalNet. She writes Doctor Who fan fiction in fits and spurts and does the occasional doodle or two now and then.
She describes meeting Tom as "easily the most wonderful night of my life!" They got married in August 1999, 8 months after first meeting, and over a year since they started emailing each other.
Alryssa can be found mostly posting on PMEB, drwhochat and EighthDoctor with co-moderator and owner Tom. She also haunts the newsgroups rec.arts.drwho, alt.drwho.creative and alt.fan.stonecutters, and stupidly offered her services to be a moderator on the new newsgroup rec.arts.drwho.moderated.
In her (limited) spare time, she maintains the Randall and Hopkirk (deceased) website, this page which includes the website for The Cat Who Walked Through Time, and one other for her Star Trek club (which she admits is badly in need of an overhaul!)
She's also currently just finished her probationary period and classes on the Kemetic Orthodox religion, and is now a member of the order of the Spiral Phoenix, an eclectic Wiccan group.
Favourite authors include Kate Orman, Steve Emmerson, Jon Blum, Silver Ravenwolf, Raven Grimassi, Angela Carter and TS Eliot. She admits to dropping out of university after 18 months due to 'creative differences' between herself and most of the rest of the world. :-)
In Real LifeTM, both she and Tom used to volunteer at a local no-kill cat rescue, and having been made aware of the plight of feral and abandoned cats, have produced a Doctor Who fanzine titled 'The Cat Who Walked Through Time', which is in its second print run and can be ordered through Ambrosia Books here.. A second edition is being put together as we speak.
They're also owned by Maxil, a fat orange 14-year-old tabby not unlike Wolsey, and Russian Blue rescue kitty Josie.
